We had applied for planning permission for the garage separately from the house, mainly due to a perceived need to simplify the house application for the planner who was then working on our applications. Today we heard that the Borders Council Planning Department were “content to approve the scheme” subject to the usual raft of conditions.
Things like natural slate on the roof, we have to show them the materials we’ll be building with, and we have to provide room for two cars to park “in perpetuity”. Never mind they’ll go all rusty …
This means we can get quotes from our chosen candidate builders safe in the knowledge we have provided them with all the required information. With a fair wind, we’ll get the tenders off early next week, and treat the contractors to a bit more Christmas indigestion.
On track to start some building in February (we hope!)
Update:5th January 2013 – Application formally approved by the Borders Council.
