Now the timber frame has been allowed to settle for long enough with the roof on, time for the outer walls. The plan is for all but 2 of the walls to be built from concrete blocks then covered in an off-white render. The other two walls at the front of the house will be built from locally sourced sandstone.
The first task was to clear the accumulated rubbish from around the foundations. Then the lintels were placed over the entry and exit points of various services. This lintel in the picture protects the entry point from the borehole for the ground source heating system.
Then, remarkably quickly, walls start to appear.

Setting blocks right up to the window frames.

Marshall working tight in amongst the scaffolding

Wall ties every 600 millimetres, in every other course of blocks

Pirate and I spent all morning devising trip plans for 2014. Plan is to do coast to coast and then a week in Scotland via the borders. Hopefully you night have room in the inn for a night around week 2/3 June.
